A Message About Programs
from our Vice President, Gillian B.

Thank you to everyone who stayed at our January meeting to brainstorm and vote on topics for our 2026 programs. We had a very well attended meeting, and lots of great suggestions. We also had several new volunteers offering to teach topics, which is wonderful news! An extra big thank you to everybody who volunteered to teach a topic, and to Joan for her help with the projector too.
First, a few words about Field Trips:
Field Trips and Workshops require months of planning and coordination. We’re not able to schedule anything immediately, but we’ll continue to work on opportunities. These have been suggested:
-
Visit to a fiber producing farm: The farm Charlene K. went to before stopped doing tours. She recommends Vista Fiber Arts Festival (May 2-3) as an alternative. If any members know of actual farms we could visit (presumably not more than a day trip), please let me know. (I prefer an email or something in writing, otherwise I’ll probably forget!)
-
Return to Trendsetter Yarns: A lot of members voted for this! We’ll try to arrange something with Trendsetter for later in the year. If it works out, we’ll re-jigger the schedule.
-
Natural Dyeing Workshop with Griffin Dyeworks: It seems, based on my very incomplete idea of the costs, that there is not enough interest to do this as a Guild workshop. (For those still interested in Natural Dyes, Griffin Dyeworks has a weekend workshop in August which I will announce at the next meeting.)
2026 Programs:
Here is our schedule for 2026 (as always, things might change, this tentative schedule of programs can be found on the meetings tab—you may need to scroll down a bit):
We had more topics that people were interested in learning about than we had space for in the calendar year. Topics for future consideration (including holdover ideas from prior years marked with an asterisk*). Many of these topics also are in need of a volunteer to “teach” them. This is a excellent opportunity to research and learn about a topic you’ve been wanting to learn. Then teaching it to the group will help solidify your knowledge. Look over this list and see if anything appeals to you—at this point you would have a year or more to master a new technique!
